The 1956 Series 62 Coupe DeVille created a “new inspiration” for all other automobiles and never before has a motorcar become so captivating, elegant and meticulously engineered. The 365 C.I.D. 16-valve V-8 engine (6.0 liter) has 285 hp, 400 ft. lb. torque and runs on 5 main bearings. It has a cast iron block and cylinder heads for durability! The factory equipped this motor with Carter WCFB 2370 4 bbl. carb., automatic choke, hydraulic valve lifters, new mechanical fuel pump, an equalizing intake silencer manifold.

The engine is connected to the 4 spd. Hydra-Matic/Automatic transmission with smooth shifting performance. The “body on frame construction” is a sturdy I Beam X-Frame and the strongest, newest design with a lower center of gravity.

The perfect 50/50 weight distribution assures excellent traction and performance. The front coil spring suspension uses upper and lower control arms. The rear suspension is the Hotchkiss drive system transferring the thrust of the rear wheels to the frame through the rear springs! The rear axles are semi-floating type cut so the driving pinion meshes with the ring gear well below the center of gravity.

This allows the low profile modern contemporary look with the low drive shaft, low floors and low rear floor tunnel to give the result of 'road hugging” trendsetting design no other automobile car had a this time!
