Description

This 1988 Chevrolet R30 is a square-body Crew Cab, rear-wheel-drive 1-Ton Dually powered by a 454 TBI big-block backed by a TH400 transmission, riding on 17" wheels and tires. It's in great running daily-driver condition.

A long list of parts has been installed over the last few months: exhaust manifolds, dual stainless steel exhaust (good sound, not overly loud), a complete front and rear suspension (springs, shocks, bushings, steering components, control arms), a full ignition system (control module, distributor cap, rotor, plugs, wires), fuel pumps in both tanks, EGR valve, thermostat, water pump, radiator hoses, fan clutch, rear bumper, window felts on all doors, and all fluids exchanged.

History is limited: purchased out of Indianapolis in July 2022, and the body suggests it spent most of its life outside the rust belt. The VIN decodes as a 1986 with a straight-six, yet it has the fuel-injected 454 that wasn't produced until 1988 — possibly a cab swap, but that can't be confirmed.

Body: the right dually fender is broken along the bottom front edge, the left front fender has a slight dent in the wheel-lip area, and the tailgate and headboard are beat up (though the tailgate works well). There are a few small dings, but rust is limited to very minor surface rust with nothing rotted out — original rockers, floors, and doors. All glass is in good shape, nothing broken or pitted.

Engine and drivetrain: no leaks anywhere, starts right up with no issues or noises, the transmission shifts properly and moves in and out of gears without issue, and there are no driveline noises or vibrations. The odometer is operational and shows 15,202 (likely rolled over once or twice).

Driveability is very smooth overall, with one note: a slight hop or bounce that comes and goes at highway speeds, likely from tires being out of round or not well balanced — new tires should resolve it. The current tires are getting low on tread but still have life left.
