It has a 1250 cc inline overhead valve four cylinder engine, dual carburetors, 4 speed manual transmission, independent front suspension with coil springs, rigid rear axle with semi-elliptic leaf springs, four wheel hydraulic drum brakes, and a wheelbase: 94\'. The MGTF, has repositioned headlamps, new bonnet design, sloping hood line and raked radiator. The new TF, sold nearly 10,000 units during its two year production run. The new TF was nearly five seconds quicker in the zero to 60 mile per hour dash than the previous model. The American press welcomed the MGTF. In its December 1955 edition, road and track stated.
