Listing Description
Up for sale is this super nice 1958 Studebaker “Silver Hawkâ€. The car is in excellent condition and has won numerous trophies through the years. Owner purchased it from a car dealer in California. It has an interesting history, as it was basically a three owner car. The original owner purchased the car from the dealership in 1959 where it had been used as a “dealer demonstratorâ€. It was purchased in its gold color, and was actually sold as a “Golden Hawkâ€. The original purchaser owned the car for approximately 10 years, when he suddenly passed away. His wife then sold the car to a car collector, who owned it for approximately 25 years, but never really did anything with it and the car fell into disrepair. Then, as fate would have it, the original owner’s, daughter, who by this time had become a doctor, bought the car back and had a 14 month restoration done by a professional restoration shop. The third owner bought the car from the doctor and owned it for 15 years. The restoration job has held up beautifully and looks as good as ever; a testament to the quality of work that was done. Some upgrades during the restoration were aftermarket front diskbrakes, along with the “Vintage Air†heat & A/C system. A new AM/FM stereo was also installed, with USB input, to plug in your smart phone. The engine runs strong and the “Flight-O-Matic†transmission shifts smooth. The front end has been rebuilt and it drives straight and tight. The engine always runs cool, even on the hottest days with the A/C on; and speaking of the A/C; it blows super cold. The car is a pleasure to drive. It gets a lot of attention, because these Studebaker Hawks are quite rare in this part of the country. The car comes with some “Golden Hawk†trim features such as the louvered hood and chrome fender emblems. All the chrome is in excellent condition. The bench seats are wide and comfortable, with the array of round gauges ahead of the driver that looks pure “sports†car. It even has a tachometer, rare.Doors: 2
