1946 Chevrolet 3100 PickupIt runs and drives as a vehicle of it’s time. It is powered by a 235 cu. in. Blue Flame engine which I was told was original by the previous owner who did the frame off restoration on the truck. Purists would say a 216 cu. in. was original. However, the 235 was manufactured from 1942-1963 and may very well have been an option at the time. Getting back to the performance and drivability, It is a 3 speed floor shift manual transmission. It must be “double clutched” to shift since the tranny is not fully synchronized. Top speed is 50 mph since the rear end gear ratio is low. I purchased the truck exactly as you see it and there are some things it needs which depending on where it ends up. There is no heater since it was a southern truck. There is no windshield wiper, but the (vacuum) motor is there and works. The emergency brake doesn’t work, never use it anyway. Gauges work, the odometer doesn’t, claimed exempt to register…no problem. No turn signals, but I did purchase a kit which will go with the truck. It is toggle switch operated and can be mounted inconspicuously to maintain the antique integrity of the truck. They are “self cancelling” and work off the brake lights. I also have touch up paint (Swift Red 5127) and clear coat for touch ups. I just put in a new battery and master cylinder in the last couple of months. Finally, the driver’s side rear fender wasn’t properly primed and the paint is cracking.1946 Chevrolet 3100 PickupIt runs and drives as a vehicle of it’s time. It is powered by a 235 cu. in.
