1949 Dodge Coronet, 1949 - 1952. 2 doors model name – Coronet – was new, and the cars were conservatively styled in line with what Chrysler’s chief executive KT Keller thought customers wanted. Only available with Dodge’s dependable 230 cid flathead six @ 103 hp against Pontiac’s 90 hp for their six and 104 hp from their inline eight. Highest quality used components often not found standard on competitors, including aluminum pistons, automatic choke, “floating power” engine mountings, and full-pressure lubrication of the engine and oil filter. Very nice Laplata Blue 505 paint. Great lines gap and fit all the chrome and trim on the car is in superior condition. Very unique style front grill featuring two smaller top pieces separated by rectangular grill and the bottom third piece extends out below the headlight and turn signal indicators. Very nice two-tone tan and brown interior. Very original car the undercarriage looks good. Brand new feature for 59 was a key-start ignition. Dodges utilized fluid coupling plus clutch standard shift. Gyro-Matic two-range (four-speed) semi-automatic transmission with fluid coupling and clutch. With the Gyro-Matic, the clutch was required only to shift between low range, high range and into reverse. The shift lever control on the steering column mimicked “three on the tree” but without “first” gear position. The car features a durable rigid double channel frame, independent front coil suspension, inclined rear telescopic dampers, safety rim wheels, and dual front brake cylinders in the drum brakes providing extra stopping power. Factory correct Babymoon dish hubcaps with Dodge and red letters and an amazing set of Firestone non-radial tires, not recommended for use in driving. This vehicle is either classic, antique, exotic, super rare, or all of the above. This vehicle is on consignment from a very large collection of vehicles. They are being sold as museum quality cars which means they may not run or drive and may not have run or driven in numerous years. The vehicles are of a condition where they would be on display in a museum. As museum pieces we were required to disconnect or remove batteries and drain fuel tanks. Once again, these vehicles have not been driven, or even started in quite some time.
