1949 GMC 100 By today's standards, the 1949 GMC 100 pick-up would be the Sierra of its time. This 100 'Rat Rod' is a dependable everyday driver. From the plank bed to the distinctive 'patina' finish, this GMC pick-up is an eye-catcher. The body is straight, and true, but like a beautiful woman does have a 'few' imperfections. There is even the possibility that some of the original finish may still be present. Chrome wheels add to the appearance, blending the nostalgia with the new. The interior is well 'thought out'. A comfortable bench seat is freshly upholstered in tan vinyl and the dash houses factory gauges. The fuel tank has been relocated from the cabin and it has been converted to a 12v system. The engine compartment is home to a strong inline straight 6 motor. The engine runs well and is a known workhorse from the era. It has a 3-speed on the column. This GMC 100 is an attention getter and will soon become a fun ride for the right person. Comes with a warranty. As far as design is concerned, the 1949 GMC Pickups were largely what was seen on the 48 models. The entire GMC line included 75 different models from 4,600 through 75,000 lbs. There were 224 body and chassis types, powered by a variety of 9 GMC built engines. Two years prior in 1947 GMC trucks restyled Chevrolet featured the new “Advance Design” cabs. This was a total departure from the prewar truck line. Cabs were larger and more comfortable with a larger glass area, standard dual windshield wipers, improved insulation and much better seats.
