1950 Mercury Eight Woody Station Wagon IF ONLY THE BEST WILL DO, YOU JUST FOUND IT Collectors know the 1950 Mercury two door woody wagon is at the top of the list for desirability and aesthetic excellence. This thoroughbred station wagon was luxuriously appointed when compared to other station wagons available at the time, and since there were less than 1800 wagons made that year, they are rare to find – especially in pristine original condition. This is such a car. It has won the Early Ford V8 Club Dearborn Award – scoring 998 points out of a possible 1000. No detail was overlooked in its restoration, and it shows. This restoration entailed a renovation of all electrical, mechanical, wood trim, paint, leather upholstery, and several accessory items included. It is, in effect, a brand new 1950 automobile. This spectacular wagon is very easy and economical to drive with plenty of power to keep up with modern traffic. The car was featured in the November 2020 issue of the National Woodie Club magazine Woodie Times. This wagon was meticulously restored to exacting specifications by well-known woodie collector and restoration expert Nick Alexander between 2009 and 2011. Since then, it has been driven only about 250 miles and always stored in an air conditioned garage. This particular car is one of the early production models, manufactured before a change in details was made in late May of 1950. The early issue 8 passenger station wagons feature wood panels on their lower tailgates, while the mid-year models have metal tailgates that were painted to match the rest of the car, in the later issues, the spare tires were more recessed. About 800 of the early wagons were produced. In later production models, some of the African mahogany trim on the tailgates was deleted in the late production models have a fold down center row seat, and the rear side window design was simplified to only two panes by eliminating the aft, fixed pane.Body Style: WagonDoors: 2Fuel Type: Gas
