1955 Ford Thunderbird Convertible in Mint Condition292ci / 198hp 3-Speed Manual w/ Overdrive ONLY 60350 Miles1955, the year of the Thunderbird. The very first of its kind. An American icon and the first true American sports car. This car turned the American automotive industry on its head when it showed up at Ford dealerships across America. The two-seater competition wars with the Corvette had begun. The Tbird was the early and easy winner in its first 3 years. At this time, the Corvette was still a six cylinder and could not match the Tbird in any way. Styling in particular was like nothing ever seen before. The first generation Tbird (55-57) is still considered one of the most beautiful cars ever made. This Tbird retains that beauty after nearly 65 years after a piece by piece restoration of the highest quality. The very meticulous owner went above and beyond to ensure that all work was performed to the highest level, using all correct NOS parts and that EVERYTHING worked as designed or better. Receipts for all work is included with the sale and shown in the photos. Some of the work included a complete repaint in its original color of Snowflake White at a cost of more than $18500. All chrome outside and inside is perfect. The interior is as good as it get with all new seat covers and padding, New correct door cards and more. The steering wheel is perfect and is original. The dash cluster is all new and every feature and option works like new including all gauges and the factory 4-way power window switch. (You will notice the dash is missing the clock. The owner had to make sure that even that was working properly so it was taken out and rebuilt. It will be installed shortly and new photos will be taken with the working clock in it.) The interior was completely insulated during the restoration to reduce noise. This was not something that would have been done in 1955. The windshield wiper were converted to motorized, an upgrade to the old vacuum system. The electrical system has also been upgraded to 12volt from the older 6volt. The heating system is all new as well and heats up nicely. The white top is also brand new and goes up easily however the power top was not yet available in 1955. The radio is a retrofit AM-FM stereo with bluetooth that is made to look exactly like the original.The engine is its original Y-Block 292ci with 198hp. The original 3-speed manual transmission with Overdrive has been rebuilt. The carburetor has been upgraded to an advanced electronic fuel injected carburetor. She starts, drives and runs perfectly. The dual exhaust system is new and the pipes come threw the rear bumper as designed. Mileage reads 60350 and we have no reason to believe that the mileage is not actual...The undercarriage is immaculate and 100% rust free as is the entire body and frame. Underneath, the clutch and clutch plate are new, shocks and springs are new. The gas tank and lines are new, brakes and wide white tires are 90%.Overall, this Tbird is as good as new in every respect.
