1956 Chevrolet 3100 1/2 Ton Pickup Truck The truck is all stock except for the radio. It is an original California truck from SoCal and was assembled in the Oakland plant approximately November 1955. The truck was restored by the previous owner in the mid-1990's and I purchased it in late 1999. There is an aftermarket AM/FM cassette unit installed using the original holes in the dash and I will also include the original AM radio (has NOT been restored). The drivetrain is a 235 inline 6 cylinder with a one barrel carb and oil bath air filter. The transmission is a 3 speed Saginaw unit with a column mounted shifter. The differential is a 3.90:1 ratio so the truck tops out at 50-55 mph. The suspension has original design leaf springs and solid axles front and rear. The only thing on the truck that doesn't currently work is the speedometer/odometer. It wasn't working when I purchased the truck in 1999 so I installed a new plastic gear on the output side of the transmission and it worked well for a while until the plastic teeth wore too much. I never tried to repair it again as I assumed that the transmission or at least the tailshaft would need to come out in order to replace the metal driver gear.
