This 1956 Mercury Monterey Phaeton was one of 80 Mercury's given away during the Ed Sullivan Show back in 1956! The current owner is only the 2nd owner to ever title this car! It only has 47,980 documented original miles! Even the paint is all original! The only item that has been replaced in its 60 year life has been the front seat covers and new radial tires.....that's it. The owner still has the original telegram from Ed Sullivan himself congratulating the first owner of the car! Original newspaper clippings and articles about the contest winning are all included with the sale. Even the original owners manual is in beautiful condition.This Mercury sports the 312 cu. in. V8 T-Bird engine along with the 3 speed Merc-O-Matic automatic transmission. Both perform flawlessly and with absolutely no issues. This car can be driven anywhere with no worries. The chrome, glass and trim are in very good to excellent condition. The interior is like new. The instrument panel gauges and trim are like new. Even the original radio still works! The only area of the original paint finish that is showing some signs of thinning is on the roof (see pictures). The rest of the car finish is in unbelievable condition for a 60 year old car.
