1961 Comet 99% rust free The Comet was originally planned as an Edsel model. Ford announced the end of the Edsel program on November 19, 1959. However, production of 1960 Edsels continued until late November. The Comet was reassigned to the Lincoln-Mercury division to sell at Mercury-Comet dealerships, where it was marketed as a stand-alone product for 1960 and 1961 as the Comet without any Mercury divisional badging. This car has 59000 miles ( its on the title) and is 99% rust free, it has some new suspension front and all in rear, all new brakes, gas tank, original exhaust pipe with new muffler and tail pipe. The interior is said to be original and seats are in great condition, door panels are in good shape with some defects, the dash pad may have been replaced because it's perfect and the radio and both spot lights even work. The 170 6 cylinder is completely rebuilt with just over 100 miles and runs fantastic, the 3 on the tree transmission was also rebuilt and works great with a new clutch, the rear end and drive shaft were also redone . New water pump, radiator, hoses, starter, all new tune up parts. This is a rare car that was painted once in it's life with some cool dealer installed options.
