1962 Mercury Comet S-22 Inline 6-cylinder, 144 ci, three speed column shift (manual transmission) OEM original 144 ci long block engine was replaced 2500 miles ago. Car has 92,000 original miles. Clean title. Car has original door and trunk lock keys with Mercury head logo. Original owner's manual, full color dealership sales brochure and original wheel covers. We are the second owner and have copy of original small title, unfortunately DOL took the original when we changed to our name. We purchased with the intent of dropping a small block v-8 engine in this, but it runs so well, the engine just purrs, we couldn’t bring ourselves to do it. This car would make a sweet ‘street rod’ with minimal effort. Only 5 thousand model S-22s were produced in 1962. It is titled as an Antique vehicle with a collector plate, never license it again! Vehicle is an excellent driver and a little head turner. It gets many thumbs up every time it hits the streets! The interior - seats, carpet and door panels - have been replaced with OEM materials and colors. The steering wheel and horn button/ring are original and in great shape. What have we added new? Floor pans, gas tank and sending unit, clutch pack, brakes – shoes, wheel cylinders, drums and all hardware (including wheel studs & lug nuts), tires, wheel bearings, Monroe Max Air shocks (rear), Premium Shocks (front), re-cored radiator, ignition parts – distributor, cap, rotor, points, condenser, coil, wires, spark plugs, ignition switch and battery, new GM alternator charging system, heater core, hoses, new (not rebuilt) carburetor, headlight & dimmer switches and fuel pump. What needs to be finished? The headliner. This car needs someone who will appreciate it for the cool little part of automotive nostalgia that it is! Drive as is or turn it into your dream street rod.
