1964 Studebaker Avanti R2, Extremely rare. Car has original window sticker, and other original paperwork, Designed and developed by the president of Studebaker Sherwood Egbert 1962. Assembled @ Studebaker Automotive Plant, South Bend, Indiana. Avanti was named the honorary pace car. Front engine, fiberglass body, amazing stats 0-60 mph : 5.8 seconds. 1/4 Mile : 13.2 seconds. Top Speed :171 mph. Touted as 'America's only four-passenger high-performance personal car.' Advantages Took the world by complete surprise, on release, a modified Avanti reached over 170 mph (270 km/with a supercharged 289-cubic-inch (4,740 cm3) R3 engine at the Bonneville Salt Flats. In all, it broke 29 world speed records at the Bonneville Salt Flats. Power front disc brakes. Power steering. Totally innovative slide out drawer above the glove box. cockpit style gauge cluster once again with beautiful wood. Factory in dash Tachometer. Driver quality P-6436 Avanti Maroon paint. Nice lines and gaps. presentable but not perfect. Totally innovative below the bumper front grill. Captured the downdraft of air. Beautiful rear chrome bumper with bumper guards. Separate back up tail lights. 289.0 cu in. | 4.7 L @ 289 HP. 9:0 to 1 compression. Carter Model AFB 4-barrel carburetor. Beautiful black interior. Possibly the first of its kind rib stitched dash pad above the glove box in the passenger side of the car. Bucket seats. Connected bucket style backseats with center arm rest, an amazing amount of rear space and legroom. Power Shift Automatic 3 speed automatic transmission in beautiful wood accented console. Runs and drives very well. A head turner for sure.
