Mercury Cougar had several different engine options to their line-up in the late 60s but very few of them included a 4 speed manual transmission. This was does! Take a look at a rare cat that remains in factory original condition today with one exception; a beautiful repaint in its original factory color of Medium Green (Code #4). The new paint is over ten years old and looks incredible today. The shine is brilliant, the color is smooth and even with no dings, dents and absolutely no rust ever. There are a few small imperfections which are clearly shown in the last three photos. All body panels are original and never hit. Original markings are also shown. Chrome and trim are in very good to excellent condition. The factory original 351ci 290hp engine on this Cougar XR-7 was an optional engine choice for the 351 due to its 4bbl carburetor. This 351W 4bbl engine option had the highest compression ration of all engines in the line up with a compression ration of 10.7:1, higher than the 390 and 428. It is an absolute pleasure to drive. It starts immediately and idles super smooth. It takes off and handles like a real cat. It is very powerful. The 4-speed manual is also smooth as can be. You will be impressed by the life in this 74500 mile car. The engine itself is super clean, nicely detailed and ready to rock!. Their are no leaks, strange noises or issues of any kind. Just get in & go!. The interior is all original and looks fantastic. If you go through with a magnifying glass, you may find a mark or two but nothing major at all. The factory leather seats are solid with no tares. There are no dash cracks or any issues that need attention. Carpet is in excellent condition. The 4 cluster gauge package looks crisp and clear and all gauges work perfectly. All major features and options work as well. That includes the speedometer, tach, gas gauge and all other gauges. They are clear and easily readable. All four windows roll up & down easily. The hide-a- way headlights and sequential turn signals work perfectly . The AM radio and its 2 speakers (front & back) work as they should. The Whisper Aire air conditioning blows but is not very cold. It is still on the old R12 system.
