Its styling is crisp and clean albeit large, without the wretched excess gaudiness that many cars of the era were prone to. The best part of this particular Sedan DeVille is its astounding original condition. Collector cars are now becoming more valuable when they are original rather than restored. This car is the best of both worlds: it looks like it was just restored and yet it is virtually all original; including most of the paint, the entire interior, the engine and drivetrain, the trunk, etc. Even the original (unused) spare and jack are in the car. As with many Cadillacs, this one is fully loaded with power steering, power brakes, 6-way power seat, climate control air-conditioning, AM FM signal-seek radio, power door locks, and many more options, including the rare and valuable red Cadillac floor mats (front and rear) and the optional original trunk mat. The alone sell for hundreds of dollars to collectors seeking authentic Cadillac luxury.How did this car remain in such phenomenally good condition? Because the previous long-term owner was a total fanatic. He retained and framed every document and object connected with the car, ranging from the original set of keys from Balmer Cadillac in Brooklyn, N.Y., to two sets of original keys, the order sheet, the bill of sale, the warranty, etc, etc. He often arranged these in the trunk with specially prepared title cards to make sure that he took home trophies from car shows, which he invariably did. (A major trophy is included with the car.) The color combination is highly attractive with a Metallic Silver (Patina Silver Iridescent) over a contrasting Red Leather, not the cheaper cloth interior, and a black vinyl roof. It is simply stunning.??To make sure that the car is as roadworthy as she looks, the former owner recently installed a brand new set of Vogue-style radial tires, new carburetor, fuel pump, water pump, hoses, belts, air conditioning compressor, etc. The car is as roadworthy today as she was in 1970 and recently completed a 525 mile round trip averaging 17 mpg. She's is powered by Cadillac's legendary 472 cubic inch engine, considered by many to be one of the finest V8 engines Cadillac ever built. It is coupled with a Turbo Hydramatic 3 speed automatic transmission that shifts so smoothly you would think it was a CVT. Similarly, the ride is so smooth that you would think you're riding on one of today's highly sophisticated (and problematic) air suspension systems. In automotive parlance a Coupe is often defined as a Hardtop. Thus, Sedan DeVilles were referred to as four-door hardtops. They have the lines and elegance of a coupe, but provide both four (4) doors and a far more airy interior experience for all the passengers. In fact, the 4-door hardtop offers far more open air driving than a top-up convertible when all the windows are down. And way more open air than any Coupe. An important trend in today's modern cars (Audi A7 and Mercedes CLS are examples) are calling themselves 4-door coupes, so Caddy was only 50 years ahead of its time.
