1970 Corvette LT1/ ZR1 COPO Restored Original 1 Family Owned Car, it passed from father to son Documented in the NCRS Registry, the only ZR1 produced with a HD 3:08 Rear end. 1 of 25 built by GM, 1 of 11 known in existence, 1 of 1 Marlboro Maroon with saddle tan interior. The car has 77,500 Documented miles, and runs like it did when it came off the floor of Sharpnack Chevrolet, Vermilion Ohio. The ZR1 was a radio delete, non power steering car and no air conditioning, built for speed. The ZR1 came from the factory with Special Performance Package, HD four wheel disc brakes, HD Stabilizers, HD Shocks, ABS, and Springs, a different frame than all others and other components not known to the average car enthusiast. The car is loaded with Sharpnack Chevrolet paperwork, GM brochures, spare Keys, GM interior tags, window sticker, owner's manual with Corvette news half stub in book, years of subscriptions of the Corvette News, decals and labels.Michigan license plate which I have been told was a Mfg. License plate along with the Detroit Tigers Baseball ball program as the car was used to drive out Legendary Outfielder Al Kahline out too the field. An Ohio 1970 plate along with a Ohio Historical License Plate, no registrations from SR. were included. The son, Jr. inherited the car from Sr., a New Jersey License plate was also in the car, one registration accompanied the car from Jr, along with an insurance card.The NCRS rated it in the registry letter as a fine example, and a very nice driver. It was never judged but, coming from the NCRS as a nice driver is nicer than most body off restored, you can judge for yourself. The car was viewed by the NCRS judge at Carisle for Vin #, engine stamp to its provided POP, the car was not judged, a pure acknowledgement of its existence, dealership, build date. Roy Sinor produced the cars NCRS letter of authenticity, Vin #, build date and its dealership. The gentleman who restored the car believes the car is all original and was never apart prior to him. Engine stamp is legible, transmission is legible, the rear end is not as legible but you can identify clearly 4 of the numbers that match the POP plate. The suffix AW, the A is not noticeable and the W is lightly noticeable, All 70 corvettes had the A. The last two numbers which indicate the year the 7 is barely noticeable, the 0 is lightly noticeable. The underside of the car is magnificent, original panels, bonding strips all in place, as clean as it was from the showroom.The body and paint are exceptional, with a few flaws, 1 at engine hood, one at passenger rocker panel, and driver. Original glass looks great, the car had a dealer alarm installed. The car comes with its original steel wheels with derby caps and trim rings on brand new Firestone Wide Oval Bias Ply tires. The car also has an original set of Kelsey Hayes wheels with spinners mounted on a new set of Firestone Bias Ply Tires, there are many pics of the car in the 70's with this setup installed on the car, the wheels were purchased from a Long Island Hot Rod Shop Motion Performance. The engine runs beautifully at idle, starts right up with one pump and idles down as it should. The car runs out strong, shifts excellent in all 4 gears. The engine compartment is highly detailed, correct components through out. The ZR1 had a steel shroud radiator, overflow tank, its Transistorized Ignition, etc. In 1970's the exhaust manifolds and smog equipment were removed from the car. Motion performance side exhaust #1519 (Black) were ordered for $175.00 via mail order and an additional $125.00 was paid to have them received in chrome; during the restoration the pipes were blasted and Jet coated and reinstalled on the car. The car includes the exhaust manifolds less the inner smog tubes, and the smog setup which is in great condition. The rear exhaust valance was replaced with block outs as it would from the factory with side exhaust.The cars saddle tan interior is a 10 nothing really more to be said, everything works as it should, including but not limited too heater, choke, vacuum headlights, high beam, blinkers, parking brake, brake lights, reverse lights, tail lamps, horn, windshield wipers, dealer installed alarm system, and its T- Tops. The last known sale of a 1970 ZR1 was at Barrett Jackson for the amount of $225.000.
