1970 Triumph TR6 Convertible Roadster for sale Strong Running 2.5L Inline 6 Cylinder Engine 4 Speed Manual Transmission That Shifts Smoothly Dual Stromberg Carburetors The Triumph TR6 was a best-selling British sports car built between 1968 and 1976. It has long been the favorite of British sports car aficionados around the world thanks to its good looks, great handling and solid performance. These appealing sports cars came well equipped from the factory with a spirited 2.5 liter inline 6 cylinder engine, 4 speed synchromesh transmission, 4- wheel independent suspension, front disc brakes, radial ply tires, wheel trim rings, reclining bucket seats, walnut fascia, speedometer with trip odometer, tachometer, lockable glove box, pile carpet, interior courtesy lights, zip down rear window, front air spoiler and luggage rack. This 1970 example has been repainted and finished in British Racing green. Looking great in green and black, it draws attention and is a real head-turner. This is a driving machine, and the whole experience of the car reinforces that impression. The body and paint are in decent shape for a daily driver but could use some TLC if you are looking for show quality. The factory wheels and their hard to find trim pieces are like new. The black interior is in good shape and shows little wear. Old world charm is evident in the real wood dash board on this car, which is weathered a bit like the wood on a boat. Smith gauges keep track of engine functions and a wooden shift knob with a TR6 badge is waiting for your hand. I'm the 5th owner of this car and purchased in 2002. This TR6 went under major restoration from 1981 to 1990. The car then remained in storage from 1990 to 1995. After purchasing in 2002 the car has been restored and the underbody was made safe and structurally sound. The car ran okay but needed a lot of TLC. I didn't focus on cosmetic changes at this time. This is not a complete list but here's some of the work done: replaced front and rear coil springs, control arms, sway bars, valve gaskets, oil pan gaskets, timing seal and gasket, steam cleaned engine under pressure, replaced fuel lines, replaced carbs with Dual Strombergs, new fuel pump and filter, new choke cable, installed battery quick disconnect, new grommets where necessary, replaced all wheel studs, replaced rear brakes, wheel cylinders, new brake lines, realigned exhaust and replaced muffler and tail-pipes, new headlight rings, and wood TR6 shifter. The car had Michelin Red Line tires with wire wheels but I decided to replace with factory wheels as wire wheels were difficult to clean and keep balanced. I still have these tires and wheels as well as hubs and can make those available. The car was garage stored and rarely used from 2005-2012. In 2012 I had a British Car specialist give the engine a complete overhaul and tune-up. Ever since this car has been running great. Mileage at 49,999 and it starts up every time...I likely added less than 500 miles on this car since I've owned it.
