1986 Lotus Esprit, clean title, and clean Carfax. A definitive 80s car, the ultimate wedge! This HCi model is powered by a turbocharged and fuel-injected 2.2L inline-four mated to a five-speed manual transaxle. The beautiful Giugiaro body is in factory black and still wearing the original HCi decals, featuring embossed gold bumper script, 15' gold BBS wheels, and removable roof. Classic 80s aesthetic with a louvered rear hatch and pop up headlights! This British hand built marvel outperformed rivals of the day such as Ferrari and Porsche, and was much rarer too; of the estimated 310 built of the HCi model, only 200 made it to the states. The tan interior features newer leather reupholstered seats, dash and carpets. Additional interior equipment includes an Audiovox AM/FM cassette player, a ceiling-mounted Jaeger digital clock, air conditioning, and power windows. The leather wrap around dash houses Smith gauges, with an odometer that reads 66,971. The trunk and interior has been treated to new carpet in 2022. This Lotus has been well cared for over the years, and has been regularly serviced with documentation. The turbocharged 2.2L inline-four was refurbished in the early 2000s including installation of a replacement crankshaft, bearing shells, rings, and seals. Work performed in 2020 included refreshing the fuel distributor as well as changing the fuel pump and injectors. In 2022 the Lotus received an engine out belt service, stainless clutch line upgrade, new master and slave cylinders, both new fuel pumps, fuel pressure regulator with mechanical fuel distributor, new ignition coils with plugs, and new fluids. A collection of repair manuals and service records will accompany the car. This Esprit drives great down the road, handles well, and still has plenty of power for an exhilarating ride.
