The Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance — held every March on the fairways of the Golf Club of Amelia Island — is considered by many insiders to be the finest concours in America and the best-curated car show in the world. Founded in 1996 by motorsports journalist Bill Warner, it combines rigorous concours judging with a strong racing heritage theme. The adjacent auction (typically RM Sotheby's) and the accompanying symposium on automotive history make Amelia a destination for serious collectors and historians alike.

In 2014, a 1939 Alfa Romeo 8C 2900B Lungo Spider sold at the adjoining RM Sotheby's auction for $19.8 million — one of the highest prices ever achieved for a pre-war European car at American auction.
The event is named after the island but also evokes the French term "concours d'élégance" — a competition of elegance historically held at Parisian society events in the early 20th century, where cars competed for style rather than speed.

Bill Warner founded the Amelia Island Concours as a more intimate, curated alternative to Pebble Beach — with a stronger emphasis on motorsport and racing history. Each year features a special tribute class: past honorees have included Enzo Ferrari, Carroll Shelby, Dan Gurney, and specific marques. The event has grown from a regional gathering to a world-class concours attracting entries from Europe, Japan, and South America.
