History
Founded in 1967 by Tom Barrett and Russ Jackson, the auction began modestly in Arizona as a way to sell a small collection. By the 1980s it had grown into a televised event, and by the 2000s it had become a cultural institution — broadcast live on Velocity/MotorTrend and drawing 200,000+ attendees to Scottsdale each January. Barrett-Jackson now runs six events per year across the US, but Scottsdale remains the flagship.
