1961 Vauxhall Victor for sale in Michigan (ID-115061)
1961 Vauxhall Victor bought this project because we thought it would be cool to do a 'revival' type project. The car hadn't run in a while, and needed a decent bit to get going. Turns out, we don't like revivals. We did the following: -Replaced every single hydraulic brake part except the wheel cylinders. Those were honed and rebuilt with new seals. -Replaced every single clutch hydraulic part. -Cried. -Replaced all the fluids. -Replaced the crappy aftermarket ebay carburetor with a functioning crappy aftermarket ebay carburetor (it's for a jeep. The manual choke isn't connected because the linkage is on the wrong side.) -Cleaned and properly gapped the points when it almost left us stranded. -Mostly sealed up the gas tank (the sender has a broken bolt and it weeps fuel from there) and installed the highest quality (ebay) electric pump on it. The good news is there's two fuel filters on it. The bad news: the pump leaks. -Seriously, we cried a lot. -Got the horn and turns signals working (the horn is intermittent though. Everything but the horns themselves seems to work. Might just be a rusty connection issue, but I don't want to look at it anymore). Here's what's wrong with it: -Everything Ok,ok, here's what's actually wrong with it: -It leaks every car fluid known to mankind, except power steering fluid. Ignore the fact that it has no power steering. -The clutch slips if you floor it in third. -The third gear synchronizer is gone. You can either double-clutch into third, or you can 'grind it till you find it'. -Don't you even DARE to adjust the heater, or the car will get angry and pee on your shoe in retaliation. -There's a rust hole in the driver side floor. -Only the temp gauge and the oil light work on the dash. We do have a new dash though. -The fan belt shredded itself. This was the last straw. We did actually get it running and driving, but we were so tired of working on the car that we just wanted to enjoy it a little before we tried working on it.Body Style: SedanDoors: 4Fuel Type: GasDrive Type: RWD
