Mileage - 101,200 miles or 163,000 kilometres
Odometer is in miles and is at 01,200 and something. So it’s been around once.
1.8 litre 4 cylinder B Series 3 main bearing engine. 4 speed crash box (non-synchronized 1st gear) with electric overdrive. New vinyl top on non-period correct scissor style frame (stows in back seat area); new top boot; new radiator / fan / hoses; new ignition coil; new plugs, leads, condenser; new oil cooler; spin on oil filter adaptor installed; spare disc wheel with new tire; new front shocks (original style); new head lights, but old ones (while a bit dim) are still working; new passenger seat belt; new signal stalk and wiring; new heater controls, and heater valve cleaned and made operational again; new starter motor in 2019.
Runs, drives, steers, brakes perfectly aside from a slight rough idle. Electrics all work. New wiper arms and blades. Original wind screen (could probably do with replacement but it is not cracked and seals are still good). Vent window seals recently replace on both sides. New outer seals and bearings on rear axles. Spare bearing / seal kits for both rear axles. Tires have approx. 75% tread left. Fuel pump runs well. Negative ground. Compression is good …130 psi tested dry in all cylinders. Oil pressure is about 65 psi while driving. Running engine temperature a rock steady 190ºF. Valve clearances were checked and adjusted 4 months ago.
Paint is not perfect, but It polishes up nicely, holds a shine and looks good. Clean chrome bumpers and outriders (of course) and original steel disc wheels with chrome hubcaps (slight rust spots here and there). Original upholstery with one small hole in drivers seat where the seam stitching has come apart. Steel dash is in decent condition.
This is not a perfect show car. It has never been restored, but it has been well maintained, driven regularly, and serviced by professional mechanic. It has been repainted at some point, but I believe the original colour was red. At least there is no indication of any other colour. Door sill, dog legs etc. were repaired before purchase and remain in good shape, cross member is newish, under the trans. floors are solid. Trunk floor is solid. Engine bay sheet metal is solid. trunk lid is excellent. Hinges are all good, Hood is slightly dented as noted elsewhere - see photo, but is aluminum and has good hinges, including attachment points on body - no metal fatigue
Original parts that have been replaced, are supplied with the car. Radiator was replaced to fix an over heating issue, but is still available. Air cleaners were replaced with less restrictive ones with chrome covers (bling) but I still have the originals. Parts (original and new) that will come with the car: 3 blade fan, radiator, one front shock (two, if I can find the other one), various bushings and suspension bits including a new king post, original air cleaner cans (with original labels)- including seals, bolts, old filters, gaskets etc, 2 rear outer bearing / seal kits, old oil cooler (leaks a bit), original canister style oil filter (with spare filter); Old vinyl tonneau cover (rusty zippers and separated stitching, but serviceable)
Issues:
1. Doors have 2-3" rust spots at front lower corners. Bubbled but not perforated.
2. Carpet faded over trans tunel.
3. Driver’s seat has a small separated seam
4. Hood has a few (3) small dents from having a box fall on it. Dents are localized, 1” wide. Paint is not great. Repair was quoted at $1,500 to massage out the aluminum, strip to bare metal and re-paint. Cosmetic.
Will add photos of the current condition.....new coil, new leads, new radiator, new fan, new air cleaners.
