1968 Ford Mustang for sale in Binghamton, New York (ID-62702)
1968 Mustang GT Convertible For Sale Very Rare, 1 of 6 According to the Marti Report Gorgeous Raven Black, Painted Just 3 Years Ago Original Rebuilt 390 V8 Motor with 3,000 Miles C-6 Automatic TransmissionPower SteeringPower Brakes New Power TopAll Original Metal, Never RustedWith the Current Owner for Over 22 Years!!This 1968 Ford Mustang GT Convertible is a documented vehicle by a Marti Auto Works Deluxe Report. It confirms the vehicle was ordered and built with a black convertible top with a plastic backlight, Raven Black exterior, Bucket Seats, the GT Equipment Group, 3 C-6 Select Sift Cruise-O-Matic Automatic Transmission, a Locking Differential with a 3.25:1 gear ratio, F70x14 Wide Oval tires, 3 Console, Power Steering and Brakes, Tinted Glass and an AM/8- Track radio. The car was originally produced with Ivy Gold interior but has since been changed to an all black interior. The vehicle was produced on May 13, 1968 and is one of 1,986 with the GT Equipment group, 1 of 585 with these engine and transmission codes, 1 of 571 with the Raven Black Paint Code, 1 of 301 ordered from the Dallas Ordering District and 1 of 6 with the Paint/Trim codes. The number of vehicles produced with the aforementioned but also with an 8-Track player is unknown but can be assumed to be less than the 6 produced with the Paint/Trim codes. Even without the documentation on the 8-Track player, the vehicle being 1 of 6 makes it quite Rare. All of the work performed is of high quality. The exterior body is straight,-the paint shows extremely well, the stripes are properly placed and the interior is in fine condition. The vehicle runs and drives without issue and the owner has no complaints, issues or concerns. The vehicle is driven in good weather only and has been on numerous extended trips, again without issue. The heater core has been by passed and the repair will be addressed by the owner in the future. For the last 21 years and for the time prior, the car has obviously been well cared for, properly stored in the off season, adult driven, is a great survivor and as previously mentioned, retains ALL of its factory sheet metal. Factory sheet metal cars have become quite desirable in the collector world and combined with the documented equipment, mainly the 390 cubic inch engine, this car is toward the upper end of value and collectability. This is a Note From our Consignor:My wife and I purchased the car from a friend of ours estate in June of 1999. Our friend looked for years before he found this car in Waco ,Texas. He flew to Texas ,checked it out, bought it on the spot and had it shipped home in upstate New York where it stayed in his garage. My wife and I have had many years of enjoyment driving it to car shows, cruise in's or just to go get ice cream on sunny days. Here is a brief reason why we are offering this beautiful piece of Ford nostalgia for sale. When we pass away we were going to leave it with our son so the car would remain in the family. Recently our son told us that he would rather us sell the car and to do something nice for ourselves .Here is a brief list of the major repairs that the car has had to keep it running and looking great. At about 2500 miles the engine was completely torn down and rebuilt by an "Old Time Engine Builder" in our area who is well known and respected as one of the best there is. In fact after we put the motor back in the car we drove it 4 hours to a car show and back . It never skipped a beat. Not only that but I check the gas mileage and I told my wife I would be happy with 10 MPG and believe it or not we got 15 MPG!Four years ago we had the car completely painted. The painter took it down to the metal, sprayed on epoxy primer, the base coat and clear coat paint. Two years ago we had the top replaced because the old one was looking a little worn, no holes .It just looked like it needed to be replaced.Last year for a preventive maintenance I had the transmission fluid and filter changed and asked if the transmission was okay, they said it is fine. I have most (no all) of the receipts for everything we bought for the car in a booklet. The Auto Restorer magazine In February 2010 (volume 22) did an article on the car . It was awesome. ( a laminated copy of the article will go with the car) You will notice that the Marti report says that the car is One of Six. But the report also said the the interior was Ivy Gold, but someone along the line changed the interior to what you see in the pictures (Black). The report also says the car was born with an AM 8 track stereo radio that also was not there when it came to New York. The car was delivered to Fort Worth Texas and had spent it's entire life in Texas until it came to New York. The car has never seen snow or road salt; which is why the underside of the car is as clean as the top .
