1970 Lincoln Continental for sale in Riverhead, New York (ID-114078)
1970 Lincoln Continental Mark III Hardtop Coupe For SaleFirst Year Sunroof One of 200 Produced 460ci / 365hp SafeTrack POSI RWDC6 Automatic Transmission10.5:1 Compression Ratio This was the car that out performed and out classed the Eldorado in 1969-1971. Motor Trend magazine 1970 head- to-head review of the Eldorado vs. the Mark III gave the nod to the Mark III, beginning an annual "King of the Hill" series that ran for years. Motor Trend also noted that the Mark III was far more luxurious and detailed than the Eldorado. The Lincoln had leather seating and real Walnut wood dash trim which the Eldorado did not. This is an absolutely beautiful Lincoln Continental Mark III Hardtop Coupe in Excellent condition. There are many factors that make this car a stand-out from just about any other Mark III out there. Rare First Year Sunroof - One of only 200 made with 21,432 Mark III"s producedFirst Year for the Rim Blow Horn The engine was a very powerful 460ci 365hp V8 mated to Fords C6 3speed automatic transmission. Safetrack (Lincolns POSI rear) was a rare factory ordered option on this car along with the optional 2.75 gears and a 10.5:1 Compression ratio. With all these factors considered, this is one very rare and special car. In addition, it has less than 36000 miles driven. Woww! The paint has been refinished in its original factory color of Light Gray. The paint shines beautifully. There are a few very minor road markings but nothing to take away from the beauty of this car. There are no dings or dents and certainly, not a speck of rust anywhere. The interior is absolutely beautiful. Gauges, lighting and odometer are crystal clear and all work properly except for the clock. The seats are leather with knitted nylon inserts in the centers. Seats are full powered. The car is fully loaded with air conditioning, cruise (speed) control, AM-FM Stereo with 8-track player and power antenna, power door locks, perfect steering wheel with Rim Blow horn (first year), rear defogger, dual remote mirrors, auto trunk release in the glove box, fiber optic sensor lighting for tail lights and brake lights (shown in photos), real walnut woodgrain trim, leather armrests front & back and best of all, the first year factory sunroof. The factory Lincoln-Mercury Sunroof Operating Instructions are part of the documentation as well as the original owners manual and warranty info documenting the date of sale, original owners name & address, dealership information, factory vehicle codes and VIN number. Although this car is not perfect, it is far better than almost any other seen on the road today. So what is not perfect? The sunroof does sag a slight bit in the back portion of the roof however, it does open and close as it should and does Not leak as evident by the headliner and interior. The Cartier clock is intermittent and is 70/30 to the "not working" side. The rear bumper is missing a small reflector lens on the passenger side which we have been unable to locate yet.
