I doubt today we’ll ever get a modern truck with its big V8, side stack chrome stacks/exhaust, and cool wood package. This Lil Red Express lives up to its name by being neatly dressed up from the factory to look a little vintage with its Bright Canyon Red paint and full gold tape stripe/decal package. Sporting the original 360 cubic inch V8, the performance may still surprise you, even today. A heavy-duty TorqueFlite 3-speed automatic was the only transmission available, and it spins 3.55 gears out back, so it feels punchy around town but cruises easily on the highway. The transmission shifts easily and the torquey 360 pulls it around with the kind of enthusiasm you would expect from a Lil Red Express truck. Mechanically this car is very sound, the brakes, steering and transmission all function as they are supposed to. The chrome dual snorkel air cleaner was also part of the package, and its dressed still today as the factory did it, right down to the original decal on the lid. The engine bay is tidy for the originality and shows signs of routine maintenance, but no major modifications have been done which suggests its always been treated well. As for the original interior, this truck came with a uniform option: a red bench seat with matching door panels, dash, and carpet that only show very minor use. Overall, this original distinguishable 1978 Dodge Lil Red Express shows a very unique quality truck that is a fast-moving classic.
