1979 Chevrolet Blazer Cheyenne For Sale Motor Trend told the Blazer story this way: "Ford had the Bronco. Jeep had the CJ. Even International Harvester-the tractor company-had the Scout. And General Motors had...nothing? Into that sport-utility vacuum, the Chevrolet K5 Blazer was born. With it, GM created a 4x4 that was both a direct response to the existing spectrum of SUVs and yet also apart from it. The key difference was size: Unlike its would-be rivals, the Blazer was based on the automaker's successful full-size pickup truck. That cost-saving measure allowed it both to come to market quickly and to deliver greater capability than its competition." The market reaction? "The Chevrolet K5 Blazer was an instant success, and it wasn't long before the vehicle dominated SUV sales." Offered here is a highly optioned, survivor 1979 Chevrolet Blazer SUV (with optional Cheyenne Trim, Code RPO Z84) in its original colors, Colonial Yellow (Code 53) over Camel Tan (Code XCC4) vinyl. The truck's odometer reads 23,700 miles, which is just a five digit odometer. It may have rolled over; however, the condition is in line with a low mileage truck. The Blazer's condition is outstanding overall, a testimony to its low mileage and the fastidious care it has received from prior owners across more than four decades. The condition of the truck's exterior paint is excellent: even, smooth finish with excellent gloss across all body panels. Body panels are free of damage: no dings or dents anywhere including on the white fiberglass-reinforced plastic roof. Even the brushed-metal tailgate trim piece is free of dings. The Blazer's look is entirely original. Chrome bumpers front and rear, and Cheyenne-specific chrome body-side trim pieces are free of dents. The front, single- headlight, egg crate-style grille is similarly undamaged. Cabin glass and lighting lenses are clear and free of cracks. All factory badging-including the gold bowtie grille emblem, "K5 Blazer" front-fender badges, "Cheyenne" rear-fender badges, and "Chevrolet" emblem on the tailgate's brushed-metal trim piece-is in place and very well-maintained. Factory steel wheels with chrome trim rings are mounted with SXT Radial All Terrain blackwall tires. The spare is mounted on a swing-out rear carrier.The truck's interior shows many nice touches and upgrades that were part of the optional Cheyenne trim package, the highest option-level then available. In particular, the vertically pleated Camel Tan upholstery on all seating surfaces is particularly attractive, and in this beautifully kept original condition, rare indeed. There are no rips or tears in the vinyl, and even indications of use are absent. Likewise, the textured-metal-trimmed door panels, storage pockets, and matching brown molded plastic are free of wear. Dark-brown carpeting covers the cabin floors continuing throughout the cargo area. Elsewhere, brown, molded trim pieces-including the front storage box (with cupholders) between the seats-are largely free of wear or any indication of careless use. Chrome-accented vinyl trim continues through the cargo area walls; the interior surface of the tailgate is painted in the body color and it, too, is undamaged. The Chevrolet- branded, two-spoke steering wheel frames the stock instrument cluster's brushed-metal surround on the brown-vinyl padded dash (lower portions of the dash are painted Colonial Yellow). To the right are the slide-level controls for the Blazer's HVAC system above a Kraco tape-cassette deck mounted in the factory-radio location. The remainder of the dash continues the brushed-metal trim with a "Cheyenne" emblem facing the front passenger. The shift lever for the automatic transmission is column-mounted while the four-wheel-drive transfer-case selector is on the floor.Under the hood, the truck's original 400 cubic-inch Chevrolet V8 is in place in a complete engine bay. All engine and component surfaces are original with the sole exception of an Edelbroock- embossed, chrome, air-cleaner cover. All components-including air conditioning-are correctly in place, with hoses and wiring properly routed. There are no indications of modifications to the engine. Viewed from below, the truck's chassis is complete and undamaged with a dual-exit exhaust system, and newer shock absorbers properly installed. Protective plates covering the lower engine and transfer case remain mounted. The Blazer's original build and identification tags remain in place.Finding an early Blazer in this highly original, well-optioned, and very well-maintained condition can be a needle-in-the-haystack sort of proposition.
