Description
This 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu sport coupe was acquired by the previous owners uncle in 2005, and a subsequent refurbishment spanning over 20 years was recently completed. It is powered by a LS7 454ci crate V8 linked to a Muncie M22 four-speed manual transmission and a 12-bolt PosiTraction rear end with 4.11:1 gears, and equipment includes an Edelbrock intake, a solid-lifter camshaft, long-tube headers, and HEI-style ignition. The body was stripped and refinished in Azure Turquoise with white stripes following body repairs and fitment of a replacement hood, and the interior was re-trimmed in black vinyl upholstery.
Air conditioning, power steering, power front disc brakes, and a Hurst shifter were also specified during the build. The body was refinished in Azure Turquoise during the refurbishment, and white stripes accent the bodysides. Details include SS emblems, a twin-dome hood, dual side mirrors, and a black-finished grille and taillight panel.
The hood, headlight and taillight bezels, door handles, and roof moldings were replaced during the refurbishment. The body was removed from the frame, and the remainder of the vehicle was disassembled during the refurbishment. Please check out the photos of underneath, floors are painted to match the top of the car, The 14\ Sport wheels are mounted with Champion SE tires. The car is equipped with power steering, and braking is handled by power-assisted front discs and rear drums. The front bucket and rear bench seats are upholstered in black vinyl, and they are joined by a full-length center console with locking storage and a Hurst T-handle shifter.
The air conditioning system received a replacement belt and compressor along with a recharge in November 2025. The arm rests and sill plates were replaced during the refurbishment. Instrumentation includes a 120-mph speedometer, a nonfunctional clock, and a tachometer encircled by gauges for fuel level, temperature, oil pressure, and battery charge.
Odometer shows 97k miles, only 250 miles since complete restoration. Now its like a brand new car from 1969! The replacement 454ci V8 is said to be an LS7 unit and installed as a crate motor in 2017, per the seller, who notes that it is equipped with a 4bbl Holley carburetor, an Edelbrock intake manifold, HEI-style ignition, a double-row timing set, and a solid-lifter camshaft. The engine is said to achieve 12.25:1 compression.
Muncie four-speed manual transmission is an M22 unit and it routes power to a 12-bolt PosiTraction rear axle with 4.11:1 gears. The fuel tank was replaced, and the chassis was stripped and refinished during the refurbishment. Long-tube headers are linked to a dual exhaust system.
