1950 Desoto Sedan is a unique project opportunity. About 33,000 were sold in 1950. Car Details: Straight 6, 237 cubic inch. '3-on-the-tree' column-shift manual transmission. Personal history of car: I picked this car up and drove it about 100 miles straight home with zero issues over the summer of 2020. Since then, I have covered all exposed metal and replaced the following. -Driver's window with original glass -Coil -Points -Rebuilt carburetor -Battery The Good: Smooth ride, Brakes were rebuilt by previous owner, super straight body (all doors close very easily) with pretty much all trim included on car! Gauges work, solid floors. The Bad: Slow, no heater, no radio, wipers don't work, some rust at the base of the B-pillers and moderate rust around trunk. Dash lights don't work This car runs and drives great, extremely smooth ride. Slow as molasses as is normal of a 6 cylinder of the time, but good torque in the super low 1st gear. Still very much a project as there is no carpet and the interior overall could use a refresh, but you can also drive it around as-is and get a feel for it. There's a fresh air vent that you can open that's pretty cool but there is currently no heater as the box rusted out. Tires all hold air just fine, but I'm not sure of their age. Car is a 6v electrical system as opposed to the 12v system on modern cars so you cannot jump the car from a modern car or jump pack. This is closer to the electrical system on an ATV. Also, the car is whats known as positive ground, meaning the positive battery terminal is the one to ground out while the negative provides power. Important to keep that in mind when working on it. Reason for selling: Honestly, its super neat but turned out to not be my style, so I need to make room for a different project. This is still a 70 year old car! Does not need to be towed, but anytime you drive an antique there is always potential for problem.Body Style: SedanDoors: 4
