1964 Shelby Cobra in Portland, Oregon ID-97173

The Op-ed and AD here for this Replica might give you a different perspective? The price has been increased because all specialty cars such as Replica Cobras SHOULD appreciate every year and especially as a rare MkII model. If you own one or some type of special interest automobile then you understand. And if not, you probably won't. Also, I think its only fair that one should make a little profit on his investment... But, in all fairness to all the Cobra Kit manufactures, try building one of these. Time is money along with the all the correct components to create one successfully... This example is ready to go and a great tribute (and fairly rare) to the iconic 289 MkII SHELBY COBRA.

The SHELBY COBRA has continued to capture the hearts of many for decades. As you must be one of those discerning individuals. Just looking? Or are you seriously looking for a Cobra to buy? IF you are sincerely looking for one, please read this AD... it may help in your decision for investing your money in one... And remember or consider this, none of these Replica Cobras are perfect/perfect; they're all hand built examples and have their quirks. This one is quite good to really good as the pictures suggest. It drives exceptionally well and as a MkII it definitely makes an outstanding impression wherever it’s taken, driven and shown. Driving the smaller MkII Cobra is like poetry in motion. Not the brute HP of the 427 Titan, but enough power to weight ratio to make it clear to your brain; this IS a Shelby Cobra. Most all Cobras are really streetable-racecars, but the smaller more handsome body of the 289 MkII produces almost a delicate feel and a combination of charm with just enough muscle to keep you alert and on your toes. The recipe of a small car, big engine equals a very fast (and can be a vicious) nose-heavy, tail-happy monster if your not careful. A Cobra car is not for the feint of heart. And, one of its real assets is; Any presence of a Shelby Cobra causes a surge of interests, questions and admiration from its onlookers, as NO other car gets the attention like a Shelby Cobra does. (I have parked this one several times next to Ferrari’s and updated machinery at car functions and was amazed from the responses) Only other car that gets more attention is a GT40 Replica. In nicer climates this Replica (with its FSB and its perfect power to weight ratio HP) could even be a daily driver for some enthusiast and a great tribute or homage to Carroll Shelby's Original 289 street Cobras (the Cobras that are currently selling or exchanging hands for Millions to hundreds of thousands of real dollars) and why the Replicas are so popular and make real sense for the majority of us. As the owner of this Replica, I don't want to sell it. But, I am selling all my cars and fully retiring. I'll be 80 in August and this little beast sits too much of the time, it needs to be driven far more than I do or can. And I know (from the amount of my research) these MkII 289 Replicas ARE appreciating in new interests and better values. This one is going to someone who has a similar set of beliefs and understanding of the 289 MkII model as I do. Its current value and/or my asking price could (my educated guess) nearly double in 5 years the way things are going and the costs of these Cobra-Kits as well as the proper parts and components, to include paint jobs and the labor to create a good one, a more authentic Cobra like this one. Agree or disagree, as that’s always one’s choice. Chances are, you’ll only own one of these once in your lifetime. This one is absolutely rare (as the MkII) and quite different than 98% of the Replica Cobras out there, if that makes any difference to you. If you Google these Replica Cobras you will find what I'm saying here IS the truth about Carroll Shelby’s MkII 289 Cobras and the Replicas of them…
This Replica MkII COBRA was built and created from the UNIQUE MOTORCARS 289 FIA racecar body (Deluxe Pallet Kit) but created to replicate the modified-street 289 Cobras that also ruled the streets and boulevards of Southern California and soon after... the entire world, and even helped to create the COB Cobras that dominated the racetracks and ran the streets throughout Europe. And now, those original 289 COBRAS are the prize catch for car collectors. YES, is the magic word for Shelby's MkII 289 COBRAS. This particular Replica HAS far more potential as it could very easily be converted to replicate the original (5 only) FIA race cars produced or the few 30/35 USRRC racing Cobras that earned Carroll Shelby and his iconic Cobras their distinctive place in automotive history.

Overview:
This exceptional MKII 289 Shelby AC COBRA Replica stands out in a crowded market, offering a top tier build that is not only RARE but also steeped in automotive history. Unlike the more common MKIII and MKIV 427 models, this Shelby Snake is a charmer as a MKII and pays homage to the original bespoke SHELBY MKII COBRAS that significantly impacted the entire automotive world.
A Nod to SHELBY History:
This modified-street MKII 289 Replica features the iconic FIA racecar body and is reminiscent of the few slab-side 260-289 models that were modified by SHELBY AMERICAN in the 1960s for many of their original MK1 and MKII COBRA customers (flared fenders, beefed-up suspension, cast wheels/tires and more HP was the outcome for the more distinctive and road worthy cars) Owning this COBRA means embracing a legacy that celebrates the car building achievements of Carroll Shelby and the success of his MKII 289 COBRAS, which not only WON big time races on the higher scale but also established the SHELBY 289 COBRAS dominance, and also revolutionized the Automotive Landscape in the 1960’s.
It’s been 61 years since the last of the 998 original COBRAS were produced and sold. And just 343 were MKIII (427) models - a hard sell back then against the likes of the Corvette and E-type Jags with their roll up windows, actual creature comforts and proper convertible tops. It was not long after that the consumer market realized what was missed. As not many cars available for a growing fan base, thus the Replica COBRA was inevitable. Since the early 70’s, all manner of 427 Replica COBRAS have been introduced/produced - some simply awful renditions (the cars that give replicas a bad name). More recently, the MKII COBRAS have been replicated. These are the 289 slab-side, FIA/USRRC Replicas and all seem to have been done to a high standard and obviously with commensurately higher costs. And most recently, the original slab-side 260/289 MKI COBRAS have seen a renaissance as collectors. And again all these newer Replicas seem to be done to a very high standard of quality like the MKII 289 COBRA offered here. And don't forget the Daytona Coupe.
The MKII COBRAs:
Were pivotal in Carroll Shelby’s success and laid the groundwork for renowned models like the Daytona COBRA Coupe, 427 COBRA, GT350 Mustang and even the MKI GT40. The importance of the MKII 289 COBRA cannot be overstated—its victories and championships established the Shelby brand name and paved the way for future innovations in all high-performance vehicles.
Condition and Authenticity:
It is crucial to understand that no Replica COBRA is perfect/perfect, with one exception; their overall concept and body design. The truth is they are all hand-built cars and possess unique character traits that reflect their craftsmanship. This replica, while not without minor imperfections, captures the raw, minimalist spirit of the original COBRAS, offering a driving experience rooted in tradition rather than modern conveniences.
