1966 TV Series Batmobile For Sale 1 of 2 Driven By Adam West in the TV Series! This is The "Real" Number 5 Car! This is the Closet Car to the Original and in Fantastic Condition Created By George Barris And His East Coast Representative, Andy Perillo This Is The Original Promotional Vehicle Used By Adam West On The East Coast. The Car Was Licensed By George Barris In Connection With Fox And Warner Brothers For Promotional Purposes. The Car Was Restored By Andy Perillo, The East Coast Representative Of George Barris In 1996 And Subsequently Been Used By George Barris As One Of The Promotion Vehicles For His Star Car Collection For Both Foreign And Domestic Appearances. The Dashboard Has Several Noticeable Features That Exist On Many Copy Cars; The Compass, Radar Indicator And Perhaps Some Of The Switches. What People Overlook Seeing, That Is Unique To This Car Which Is; Shifting Gear Indicator Lights That Are Just Behind The Compass And Where The Ignition Switch And Heating Controls Are Located. They Are In The Same Location That The Futura Was. Of Course The Example Of This Car Was Built To Look Like The Car That Existed In The First Several Episodes And Does Not Have Labels Describing The Switches And Components/functions Of The Vehicle. The Best Feature Of All That Makes The Futura And The Batmobile Come Alive And Everyone Seems To Notice It Immediately Is The Original Futura Steering Wheel Which Was Unique To The Futura Prototype And Used In The Batman Series For Several Episodes, But Removed Because Adam West Needed Additional Space Because Of His Height. George Barris Had Andy Perillo Make Sure This Unique Steering Wheel Was Part Of This Batmobile. The Steering Wheel Is Unique Because Of The Speedometer And The Odometer That Is Accenting The Center Of The Steering Wheel, But When You Look Carefully At The Center Of The Steering Wheel You Will Notice Tear Drops And Often We've Been Asked What AreThose Tear Drops? They Are In Fact The Shifting Lights That Indicate First Gear, Second Gear, Third Gear, Reverse And Park. An Unusual Feature Is The Location Of The Signal Switches That Are Housed In Bullet Looking Capsules And Mounted Like A Jet Engine Is Mounted On A Wing Of An Aircraft And Is Accented With Stainless Steel Bands. The Seats Have All Of The Chrome Around The Backs Of The Seats And Around The Bottom Portion Of The Seats And Looks Extremely Similar To The Original Futura. Often Adam West Had To Drive This Vehicle During Shows And Often Enough He Had To Drive The Car During Filming. Adam West Needed The Additional Space, Because We Left In The Steering Wheel. We Altered The Seats And The Seat Locations By Three Inches And Installed An Adjustable Seat. All Of The Moldings Around The Windshield Are Detailed Closely To Replicate And Match The Original Futura Including The Rain Gutters And Locking Lips Of The Moldings Where The Original Dome Fit Tightly To Both Windshields. The Chrome Plating Is Triple Layered Chrome. One Of The Major Features Is The Way That The Moldings Fit Together Around The Windshield, Neat And Tight Corners That Brings The Finishing Touches To An Outstanding Look. There Is Also A Round Hole On Both Sides Of The Rear Windshield Molding With A Black Cap. This Hole Represents Where The Original Center Dome Gearing Mechanism Fit To Operate The Center Dome. On The Doors There Is A Weather Seal That Replicates The Futura Seal. Moldings Outline The Dashboard Which Is Handcrafted Out Of Stainless Steel And Merges With The Most Unusual Molding That Beautifies The Door Panels That Also Holds The Lever To Open The Doors From The Inside. This Door Molding Also Extends Into The Side Kick Plates Under The Dashboard. As You Look At The Floor You Will Notice Over The Carpet Outstanding Looking Stainless Steel Panels That Accentuate The Features Of The Floor As Well As The Gas, Brake And Foot Resting Pedals. These Features Were Part Of The Futura's High Quality Look. The Dashboard Is Unique In Itself Because Of The Roll Top Features. If You Look Carefully The Dashboard Is Sleek And Unique And If You Compared It To Others That Have Tried To Duplicate It They Are Bigger And Bulkier And Overlook The Stainless Steel Bands That Separate Each Compartment. Let's Not Forget The Way The Roll Top Covers The TV Without Making It Look Like It Was Shoved Into The Dash. Behind The Seats You Will Find Two Cylindrical Cylinders That House Speakers, But At One Time Were The Air Vents For The Futura. The Gas Tank Was Replaced With Only A Five Gallon Capacity Tank Due To The Restrictions That The Fire Underwriters Insurance Required. We Did Put The Gas Tank Intake Cover In The Same Location As The Original Futura And It Has A SafetyHidden Mechanism. More Than Often The Three Pipes In The Back Of The Car Are Referred To As Exhaust Pipes, But They Were Not, They Are Rocket Launchers. The Wheels Were Made By The Original Custom Wheel Manufacturer Used By George Barris And We Used Them On This Car. The Radar Antenna Detector On The Firewall On The Front Of The Car Is Unique And Was Created From The Same Templates That The Original Radar Antenna Was Made From. When It's Extended It Picks Up The Radio And TV Frequency Signals. One Of The Features That Were Not Included In The Original Car Is The Hidden Compartment Above Your Head In The Center Roof Structure Which Also Incorporates A Fuse Box And Switches That Operates Some Of The Unusual Features Of This Car, Handmade Of Stainless Steel, Highly Polished With A Slide Away Trap Door. One Of The Switches Is For The Jet Engine. The Jet Engine Housed A Flame Thrower And Because The Flame Thrower Would Ignite The Parachute Bags We Built The Jet Engine To Extend Three Or Four Inches And Therefore Would Prevent The Parachutes From Igniting. This Engine Has Been Removed Due To The Requirements Of The Fire And Police Departments As Well As The Insurance Companies, But Both The Real Jet Engine And The Simulated Jet Engine Will Come With This Vehicle. We Electrified The Jet Engine And It Was Controlled By A Switching Device On The Overhead Control Panel. The Motorized Hood And Trunk Lid With Mechanical Arms Permit The Hood And Trunk Lid To Open With The Touch Of A Button, Also Part Of The Overhead Controls. Part Of The Rear Center Console Located Between The Two Seats Is A Huge Light Above The Fire Extinguisher That Was Featured In The Original Futura. The Location For The Original Switching For The Light Wasn't Available In The Center Console So It Has Been Mounted In The Overhead Console. Adam West Could Not Leave His Hands Off Of The Phone When Displaying The Car During Shows. It Was A Great Movie Prop That He Often Said "Some Day We Have To Make This Real," But Of Course Today Technology Makes It Possible! The Chain Cutter Which Protrudes Mechanically About Five Inches From The Body Of The Batmobile Had A Tendency To Create Havoc Especially At Shows And Often Enough We Have Forgotten To Retract It, But It Is Now Made Of Plastic And Is Less Hazardous. Official Ford Motor Company's Promotional Batmobile. It Has A 272 Ford Engine, Automatic Transmission, And Complete Frame-off Restoration. It Is One Of Five Known Promotional Adam West Batmobiles Created By The Barris Group. This Car As Well As The #1 Car Was Driven By Both George Barris And Adam West On Several Occasions And Was Also Used On Many Shows To Represent George Barris And Adam Wests' Legacy. Some Features To Note: #01 - The Original Steering Wheel #02 - Gas Pedal & Brake Pedal #03 - Stainless Steel Floor Pans#04 - Functional Roll Top Dash Board #05 - Rain Gutter On Moldings Around Glass #06 - Gas Nozzle Behind Seat #07 - Chrome On Lower And Bottom Of Seat #08 - Stainless Steel Striker Plates#09 - Stainless Steel Sill Plates #10 - The Molding On The Dashboard Extends Into The Door And Into The Kick Plate Next To The Gas PedalOn Both Sides #11 - Front Chain Cutter#12 - Mechanical Jet Engine, At One Time A Flame Thrower, Extends 3 Inches This Vehicle Was Licensed And Used By George Barris, Fox Studios And Warner Brothers. Upon Request We Will Supply Photos And Movies With Some Restrictions From The Studios And Licensing Departments Of The Studios And The Barris Family. Of Particular Note Is The Fact That This Car Was Included In The 100th Anniversary Of Ford Motor Company. The Car Was Also The Official Ford Motor Company Promotional Batmobile, And It Was Named As Ford Motor Company's Most FamousTV And Movie Car.
