Pro Street Cars for Sale

Pro street is the look that defined the 1980s American performance scene: a narrowed, tubbed rear end stuffed with the widest possible tires, a big-inch V8 — frequently blown or on nitrous — and a car that looks like it just rolled off the drag strip but still wears a license plate. The style has come full circle and is collectible again. Browse current pro street listings below.

What makes a car "pro street"?

The signature is mini-tubs or full tubs: the rear wheel wells are cut and rebuilt inward to clear enormous rear tires, usually on a narrowed rear axle. Add a built big-block, a roll cage or bar, skinny front runners, and a high-stance front end and you have the classic pro street recipe. Unlike a pure race car, a pro street build is registered and (at least nominally) street-driven.

Buying a pro street car

Because these are heavily modified, value lives in the quality of the fabrication, not factory numbers. Inspect the tub work and rear-end narrowing, the cage welds, and the wiring. Ask for build receipts and chassis documentation. A well-sorted, dyno-proven car is worth far more than a flashy build that has never run hard.

Frequently asked questions

Pro street prioritizes straight-line drag style — tubbed rear, big power, tall stance. Pro touring prioritizes corner-carving handling — modern suspension, big brakes, and a lower, planted stance. Both start with a classic American body, but they are built for opposite kinds of driving.
Most are titled and registered for the street, but legality varies by state and by how the car is equipped. Check that it has working lights, a windshield, mufflers where required, and DOT-legal tires. Verify the title and VIN before buying.
Fabrication quality and powertrain dominate. Documented professional tub work, a built and dyno-tested engine, and clean wiring add the most value. Get build receipts. An unfinished or poorly executed build can cost more to fix than to buy right the first time.
